Free Spirit
Siberian Rescue
Important Update
COVID-19 March 2021 Update
At this time our rescue continues to remain open for adoptions while still implementing certain restrictions to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers, and those who are visiting for appointments. We continue to monitor the CDC guidelines for the state of Illinois along with any other states that are within our adoption radius. We continue to enforce social distancing and sanitation regulations to those who are visiting our facility. We are spacing out our appointments farther apart to allow for less contact. All those visiting must wear a mask and wash/sanitize hands regularly in addition to social distancing.

If you have submitted an application to be processed, we continue to have a slightly longer processing time so please be patient with us as we are processing them in the order to which they are received still.

For those of you who have "approved" applications and are awaiting to schedule an appointment with us, we continue to schedule appointments in the order they are approved. Please let your adoption coordinator know if you suspect anyone in your family to have been exposed to the virus, have possible symptoms, or will be traveling prior to your visit. This may delay us being able to schedule your appointment.

Thank you all again for your continued support. We are overjoyed to have so many huskies have new furever homes during this time. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at:

Celebrating 20 Years and Over 3000 Saved!
Celebrating 20 Years and Over 3000 Saved!
The Free Spirit Siberian Rescue opened its doors in 1999 with the intention of rescuing and finding a home for every husky/husky mix in need of rescue. Fast forward twenty years later, and FSSR has saved over 3000 dogs by helping them find their forever homes! This accomplishment couldn't of been done without the passion and love of animals of our president, Karen Ferreri-Miller. Her desire to allow any animal the second chance of finding their happily ever after is what drives her and all of our volunteers. We are truly grateful to all of the love and support from our volunteers, adopters, and numerous supporters along the way. Without you none of this would be possible!
