Rescue Volunteer Positions

Grant Writer: Work to obtain grant monies from private and public sources.
Assistant Adoption Application Screeners: Screen adoption applications to ensure that the applicant's information is verified and that they meet Free Spirit Siberian Rescue's adoption guidelines.
Adoption Day Counselor: Serve as an adoption counselor and show available dogs to perspective adopters at Free Spirit Siberian Rescue. Adoption Days are usually every 2 weeks on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The hours are usually 1-4 pm.
Sponsorship/Fundraiser Coordinators: Work to obtain sponsors for upcoming Free Spirit Siberian Rescue events. Query businesses and companies for monetary donations and merchandise donations to be used for future silent auctions, raffles or online auctions. Two or more individuals are welcome for this position.
Canine Story Writer: Story writing ability necessary. Must research dog's information via the Rescue Director and type story regarding adoptable canine's background & current information.|
Publicity Coordinator: Coordinate marketing for upcoming events by writing press releases, emails and faxes and distributing them to NW Herald, Rockford newspapers, Daily Herald and various newspapers in area that the event is taking place. Must be able to accept phone calls from reporters when they call regarding information for the event. Must be able to also call radio stations and news stations and send emails regarding upcoming fundraisers and events that Free Spirit is holding. Must be able to facilitate the who, why, when, what, & where elements of our events in writing & orally. Individual will have a strong writing ability and good communication skills. This position also is responsible for generating flyers to be posted in pet stores, veterinarian offices and other public locations to advertise upcoming Free Spirit Siberian Rescue events.
Weekend/Weekday Dog walkers: Ability to come to the rescue as you choose and walk rescue dogs and socialize
Rescue Dog Bathers: Ability to come to the rescue to bath dogs as needed. Usually some weekday afternoons and weekends. Bathers are always needed prior to an adoption day, which are held on Saturdays & Sundays. They are also needed to bath and groom dogs prior to events. If interested, please let us know and we will place you on a list.
Transportation: Ability to transport dogs to their new homes and do home visit. Please indicate if you can help with this. We will place you on a list. Transport: Ability to transport rescued dogs from Indiana & Illinois animal shelters or meet a transport to obtain the rescued animal as needed. Locations & distances will vary. Please choose this option if you would like to assist as needed with transporting rescued dogs. We will place you on a list.
Foster Care: Care for rescued animals, which are awaiting adoption in your home. There is a $25 fee for the state mandated foster license yearly. This also may mean that you will show the animal in your home or meet the interested individual at the rescue to meet the foster dog. Please visit this link to find out more.
Cat Room Attendants: Volunteer to care for cats by cleaning cages and cat room. Feed and supply water to cats. Cat Room Attendants are needed for weekday mornings and or afternoons and weekends also.
