2006 Events
| 2006 Husky Howler | |||
| The Annual Husky Howler is a huge event with games for dogs, lots of food, and a chance for some of Free Spirit's Alumni to get together. This event also features vendors and demonstrations for the owners to enjoy. | |||
| 2006 Tag Days and Bake Sale | |||
| The weather was wonderful for this annual fundraiser which included a Bake Sale this year. Volunteers worked in front of Walmart in Harvard while others collected dontations from motorists up at Five Points (the intersection next to the cow). It was a wonderful time with a lot of money raised to help the Rescue. | |||
| 2006 Rolling Meadows Corn Fest | |||
| Corn Fest is a large coin boil along with several different booths with vendors and crafts. Free Spirit used the opportunity to spread the word about the Rescue. We brought several dogs including two puppies from a litter that was born at the Rescue and one of the dogs rescued from Hurrican Katrina. | |||
| 2006 Harvard Milk Days Parade | |||
| Milk Days is one of Harvard's biggest yearly events. Free Spirit had the honor of participating in its parade. There was a huge turnout and the kids absolutely loved the dogs we walked along the parade route. This was also the first use of a donation sash with brought in some much needed funds for the Rescue. Remember to catch us next year. | |||
| 2006 Siberian Stroll | |||
| One of the biggest fundraisers of the year, the 2006 Siberian Stroll took place at Rush Creek Conservation District in Harvard. Several people and dogs turned out to help out the Rescue. Dog behaviorist and obedience trainer Jim Ottoson came by with Iglo, his rescued Alaskan Malamute and the 2005 Obedience Champion, to do a seminar and obedience demonstration. | |||
| 2006 Sled Demo and Chili Lunch | |||
| Free Spirit hosts this event every February. The wonderful chili was served with a mix of dogs, several vendors, and raffles. Later, we came outside to see the Free Spirit Sled Demo Team strut their stuff. The runs had to be done with a cart (no snow) but was equally awesome. | |||
