| We adopted Dante, a deaf husky in March of this
year. We had a very rough beginning but thanks to
Karen's encouragement we stuck with him. We're still
working on the house-training since he's never been
an inside dog. He has learned to sit and shake since
he's been here and we're working on lay down. He's
become a very loved member of the family that we
couldn't imagine being without, especially his brother
Brody... Update March 2006 Well it's been almost a year now since Dante joined our family...he's doing well and has learned to be a family member...He was a shy guy a lot of the time but not when he goes out. He has a 3 second rule for his treat when he comes in...that's how long you have to get it before he starts "talking". He lets himself out and in if you leave the door cracked for him. He also rings a bell on the door if he needs out. He also has a nickname now...when he lets himself in he reminds me of Kramer on Seinfeld..he barges thru the door with a "here I am" attitude...dancing around til you notice him. His deafness also doesn't stop us from talking to him all the time...and his brother Brody has a companion during those hours we're away. Thanks again Karen and all!!! Wendy and Emily |
