Meet Bronco - A sweet, independant old man who loves the outdoors and is looking to enjoy his morning coffee on the deck;Bronco is looking for his best friend. Bronco has had some issues in the past, including bites. Bronco’s first known bite was when he was found by Chicago Animal Control tied to a tree. He bit the Animal Control officer, and Free Spirit saved him. He did have two other bites, both being volunteers who had no previous work with him. Bronco’s last two bites were with his trainer, the first being after a very stressful day for him - and he nipped the handler. This was not Bronco's fault, however it did break skin. His last bite was while at the vet, trying to put a muzzle on. Bronco is neck sensitive when meeting new people, however this can be fixed by working with Bronco and earning his trust. Once you have a mutual trust with Bronco, you will have a forever best friend. Don’t let his old age fool you - this old man still has the energy of a puppy. When playing with another dog Bronco turns into a totally different guy. With his older age, he does have some shoulder and hip issues, and has good and bad days. Bronco also truly loves the outdoors. Bronco’s ideal home would allow him to have access to the outside when he wishes, and ideally access back inside when he’s had enough. He loves being outside so much that one time he was brought to an inside run and went into a depressive state, which was cured once he returned to an outside run. With all this being said, sadly trying to get Bronco into a home has been a tough task. He has been at the shelter for roughly 9 years. He did get adopted out and into a home, but was there for less than 48 hours. The reason for his return was due to the fact that the owner's other dog was 13, and Bronco was in his playful puppy state, which caused the other dog to lose a tooth. The owners felt that this was too rough on their dog, and decided to return him. Bronco has some needs that need to be met in order to find him the perfect fit.
